TERTIARY EDUCATION OF EAST JAVA PROFESSIONAL FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD & HEARING SERVICES

I am writing with regard to the next stages of our joint efforts to support early childhood and special education in East Java.  As we know, the last 12 or so years have seen a number of Western Australia-East Java projects aimed at developing capacity in these areas, through Dr Soetomo Hospital, Sekolah

Karya Mulia and Bina Anaprasa. The progress made and lessons learned are inspirations indeed to continue this activity.

The Australian Partnership Scholarships program offers an exciting opportunity for young Indonesians to study in an Australian university in areas of importance to this work.  This is administered through IDP Education Australia, who have an office in Jakarta.   We have identified the IDP- approved streams of Education and Training (including teacher training) and Education Management as most suitable.  This course would provide local professionals with valuable tools and knowledge required for child development in East Java.  At this stage we are projecting for up to 3 people to uptake this opportunity.

This website contains important information on eligibility requirements and exactly what the program will provide, both in Indonesia and Australia.  As you can see, the criteria regarding education level, English language, age and Government endorsement are quite specific.

As you are the key stakeholders and "local knowledge" we are keen to learn your opinions on the above plan and how this should best be approached.

This project has the potential to be a highly valuable and fruitful phase in our joint efforts - we look forward to working with you on it.
